"There were already wounded men in nearly every vehicle. Thick smoke was in the air and there was the odor of gunpowder and flames, and up alleys and in the main road and before some of the buildings along Hawlwadig there were Somali bodies and parts of bodies" (pg. 100).
This quote makes me feel great admiration for all of our great American soldiers. They are making the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. They continuously put their lives on the line to protect the rights of all United States citizens, and they ask nothing in return.
This passage is a great example of the incredible sacrifices these Army Rangers and Delta Force soldiers made for us. These soldiers have only been in the city for about an hour, and there are already a multitude of casualties. But that does not deture them from their mission. This quote really makes me feel a great deal of respect and gratitude towards all United States soldiers.

The thought of our own men going to fight is just...brave and scary. The way the quote described the massacre, I just don't know if getting off of those helicopters and seeing my surroundings, they were just...brave! This book/movie is amazing and very encouraging.
im pretty sure michelle made that all up to sound smart. but it is scary. im glad that didnt happen to me. i would be really mad. thats why im never joining the military, i would rather die doing something fun. like parchuting off the empire state building
i couldn't agree with you more. i just wish people would hear more stories about them because i think the go unnoticed. just to think about all the parts and dead bodies laying around would be hard enough. i don't know if i could handle that. it would take a lot of guts.
i agree with alex
I agree with Calvin and alex. They go unnoticed and going to war would take a lot of courage.
All of the men in my family are in the military, so I agree they do go unnoticed. It's sad they do so much for us, but we do nothing for them. So I was just wondering, is the book as good as the movie? Becuase that is definately one of my favorite movies, but some of the scenes like described in your quote are pretty hard to watch. I agree with you Michelle, they are so brave.
the movie is amazing, i dont think i could read the book because you cant get as much action out of a book as you can a movie.
