"After tweleve, age isn't important. Most of us even lose track of how old we are as time passes, though the information is in the Hall of Open Records, and we could go and look it up if we wanted to."
This book is absolutley CRAZY, and I love it; even though we all read it in the eighth grade, but whatever. I just don't understand how it all works and how the community just goes along with what everyone else says to do, there is barely any independence. They are so into how to act and how to not break rules that they lose track of their age, that is pretty hard to do if you ask me. I mean twelve is such a young age and they are already recieving their life long jobs they are to fulfill. The fact that they mention they can look in the Hall of OPEN records I think the community leaders and trying to make it seem like the community knows about everything that goes on. They don't. I can already tell that being released is not a fun punishment. They are just so vunerable in the community that I don't know how it doesn't scare them when they are especially old, and being released, unlike the newborns that are released. I think that is just horribly sad. I know that I guess it isn't sad because they don't fully understand how the world really works, but I wonder who actually releases these people, and how do they not feel disgraced when they do it...
