Into the Wild (post 1)

i wanted movement and not a calm course of ixistence. i wanted excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. i felt in myself a superabundance of energy which found no outlet in our quite life ( pg. 15)
passage highlighted in one of the books found with McCandless's remains...
In our day and age we have nothing to do to actually change anything, the guy in the book is walking deep into the bush of alaska trying to find himself and who he is, and that is impossible if you are constantly around other people who also do not know who you actually are. he leaves his whole family behind along with all his money and possesions, seeing no use in material objects. i wish i was a braver person, so i too could seek truth
