The Innocent Man ((post #1))

“The paramedics arrived first, two of them. They hustled up the stairs, into the apartment, and within seconds one was back outside, on the landing, vomiting. When detective Dennis Smith arrived at the apartment, the scene outside was busy with street cops, paramedics, onlookers, and even two of the local prosecutors. When he realized it was a potential homicide, he secured the area and sealed it off from the neighbors.” (pg 9)

John Grisham is an amazing writer, he knows how to keep someone’s attention, and this book is defiantly one of those that you never want to put down. By the end of the first chapter there has already been a murder, and an intense investigation started.

When the police came to check out the crime scene they found Debbie Carter, dead, her apartment was trashed and there was writing all over the walls with horrible messages. I was shocked how quickly the police started to question and investigate almost everyone in the small town. Although, to the reader it seems obvious who her killer was, a man named Glen Gore, who she was afraid of, and had gotten in a fight with the night before at the bar she worked at. But isn’t it that the police always seem to overlook the most obvious of suspects?

Well I really like this book so far, this was supposed to be a book I only read for one day, but now I’m hooked. I can’t wait to find out where the investigation leads the police next and if they can discover who the murderer really is. It seems that the murder is uncovering a lot of other secrets about the small town of Ada, Oklahoma.
