The Year of the Hangman (Post 2)

"Arm your men and station yourselves behind the larboard gunwales, but stay out of sight. No firing unless I order it. Tell the gunners to load the cannon and stand by, but not to open the gun ports" (45).

Since the last time we left our main character a lot has changed. In the last post the question left off with our young protagonist was how and when will he be able to get back to England? Once Creighton arrived in the Carolinas he met his uncle (Colonel Grower) for the first time. As soon as they are done introducing themselves Creighton learns that he will not be staying here but will be leaving for Florida with his uncle later in the week since Colonel Brown had been nominated to before Florida’s Lieutenant Governor. Not only is Creighton somewhere where he doesn’t want to be but now he must go live in the dirty Spanish Colony of Florida. So within three days they boarded the same boat Creighton came to America on and headed for the Alligator infested Florida. But on the way the Amity ran into a bit of trouble, they were tricked and over run by Patriots. As the Patriots or Privateers came aboard they came to Colon Gower who was trying to burn all of his secret British documents. The Patriots took Gower as prisoner and left Creighton because Creighton had told them that he was just an indentured slave. By the end of the reading of the Patriots tell our main characters that they are to be taken to and held in New Orleans.
